Returns & Refunds Policy

Overview
Augusta Quilts sells digital products and provides custom longarm quilting services performed on materials you supply. Because of the nature of these products and services, all sales are final and I do not offer returns, exchanges, or refunds, including on gift cards, except where South African law requires otherwise, as set out below.
Digital Patterns & Digital Education Content
No refunds are offered on digital products. Once a digital pattern or piece of educational content has been purchased, access or download begins immediately, and the product cannot be “returned” in the way a physical item can. By completing your purchase, you acknowledge and agree that:
- Your access to the digital file/content begins immediately upon payment; and
- You expressly request this immediate access and, in doing so, waive any cooling-off right that might otherwise apply to the transaction once access begins.
If a digital file you purchased is genuinely corrupted, incomplete, or does not match its description, contact me at hello@augustaquilts.com and I will fix or replace the file. This is separate from a request to cancel simply because you’ve changed your mind.
Longarm Quilting Services
Longarm quilting is a custom service performed on your own quilt top, backing, and batting to your specifications. As this is bespoke work carried out on materials you have supplied:
- No refunds are offered once quilting work has commenced.
- If you wish to cancel a booking before I begin work on your quilt, please contact me as soon as possible at hello@augustaquilts.com; cancellation before work starts is at my discretion.
- If I make an error in the quilting that does not match what was agreed with you, contact me so I can assess and put things right where reasonably possible.
Gift Cards
Gift cards are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash. In line with South African law, gift cards remain valid for a minimum of three years from the date of issue (or until fully redeemed, whichever comes first), and any unused balance will not expire before then.
Your Legal Rights in South Africa
South African consumer law gives you certain rights that I cannot contract out of, and this policy operates alongside those rights, not instead of them.
- Online (electronic) purchases: Section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (“ECTA”) gives consumers a 7-day cooling-off right to cancel certain online purchases without reason. However, this right does not apply to: goods or services that are customised or made to order; digital content or software where access/download has already begun with your consent; or services that have already begun with your consent within that 7-day window. My digital patterns, digital education content, and longarm quilting services fall into these excluded categories, which is why I am able to operate a no-refunds policy for them as described above.
- Direct marketing cooling-off (CPA, Section 16): The 5-day cooling-off right for direct marketing under the Consumer Protection Act does not apply to standard purchases made through this online store.
- Implied warranty of quality (CPA): Nothing in this policy limits your right to a digital file being fixed or replaced if it is genuinely defective, or to quilting services being carried out with reasonable care and skill, as required by the Consumer Protection Act.
- Gift cards/vouchers (CPA, Section 63): As noted above, gift cards must remain valid for a minimum of three years and cannot expire before their value is used.
